*Update plus rant.*

**Not wanting to step on Memeus toes:

Starting around 2016, my lifelong friend and current spouse who I'll stick to calling her by her pseudonym 'Memeus' rather than post her actual name for obvious reasons. She has taken an interest in meme culture at large and wanted to join in. Over the years she has built up quite a rep on multiple sites (including Imgflip, discord, Instagram, Gab, Facebook lol and even tiktok for a time) where she's made quite the contribution to these communities and Imgflip on its own as a whole.

She created her own style by largely copying me, my lingo, speech patterns and even fonts while adding her own flair to it. It's usually something along the lines of "I'm a goofball lel" type humour but I works for her and apparently even on this digital backwater, works for Imgflip as well.

Her having such a similar memeing style thanks largely to her being my spiritual successor by her own volition, would have just diminished her (and mine) memeing style and would have acted as a barrier to success to eachother.

If I had come back or at least partially returned it would have taken a bit of the spotlight off of her - and Memeus has earned her time to shine. I'm really proud of her accomplishments and her accumulated upvotes which broke a record last month.
I still lurked around here and backed Memeus up when she needed my help and I even lended support to a few other memelords around here to get the recognition they deserve. They may never know it but they don't need too. I didn't do it for recognition but as an act of just assistance.

She deserves every bit of praise she has received thus far and much, much more.
I'm proud of you, Memeus!

**I've been thinking of getting back on the saddle:

lately I've had a bit of my old nostalgia hit me and remind me of the good old days on here. So I've been thinking of being a bit more active going foreword. I have new ideas for my own style and a reused old formula for meme making that I wan't to re-try for humours sake.

Here's hoping I can achieve a modicum of the number of laughs as I did before.

**My sense of humour changed quite a bit:

As I hit my late-20's my sense of humour and viewpoints on certain things changed and matured and thus my old ways faded leading me to take a new perspective and that contributed to my retirement from meme-making.

A little bit of that old humour found its way to me recently and it revived my old comedy schtick.

**Where I've been:

I decided to retire from not just Imgflip but the internet in general after 20 years of consistent activity due to the following factors: Furthering my career and simply getting burned out.

I've managed to earn myself wonderful job opportunities and that's not afforded me much spare time that I used to have when I was a kid. My overall presence and impact on the web has diminished as a result. My new career path has given me a whole a renewed view on life and brought me much joy and purpose.

The other reason is simply that the spark just wasn't there anymore. I used to have quite the drive from creating lore and drama that led to some interesting trollage back in the day. I lost count of how many times Imgflip had to change its terms and layout just to offset my antics but I guess in the long term that was a good thing seen as those rule updates for the greater changed and made the site better.
Simply put I lost the interest I had before that would have driven my creative spark and as a result led to many laughs.

Maybe the real trollage were the friends we made along the way.

**What happens now?:

Memeus has a new comic series based on Imglfip lore and using the wojak art style releasing soon. Myself and a few other members of the Imgflip community will contribute to the series and lend our creative input to it's writing process.
I'll be focusing a large amount of time on the production of the new comic.

On a related note, we're looking for an artist to make backgrounds for the series and if anyone's interested please let us know. We'd be happy to have any contributions to the creative process.

**A wee rant:

The state of my country has not only disheartened me but also made much of my previous style of humour illegal under our authoritarian government and mindless population that supports their own oppression.

It has made my original edgy formula unfeasible as a style hence why it seemingly stopped all of a sudden.
