It didn't work before, but they're just dumb enough to think that it will work, especially in combination with all the other authoritarian policies they want to implement. Because suppressing freedom of speech is an essential component of one party 'blue' rule, similar to what we have in Taxifornia. With our blue super majority, millions are fleeing while the state goes to hell. If you have any common sense and wonder what a Greasy Gavin Nussolini administration might do for (well, to) the country, you have no further to look than what they've done here.
That's why it's absolutely critical to fight suppression of freedom of speech, no matter how insignificant it might seem at the time.
