It's crazy how I can go up to a Christian "scientist" who has studied the world for longer than I've been alive and ask them about the origin of humanity and hear them respond with, "Man was made when god made a pile of dust and blew on it and women were made when god stole the man's ribs while he was asleep."

With enough indoctrination, people can be convinced to believe anything.

Yep ... and it doesn't even take all that much indoctrination.
Interestingly, the word "dust" doesn't refer to the dust you and I think of when we sweep the kitchen floor. Christians tend to think of clay when they imagine Adam being created but the word actually has a connotation of transitory, short-lived, perishable, and non-mortal. Interesting since we're told that only by sin was Adam condemned to die ... but what about that Tree of Life? Oh well. And rib -- that one's funny. This is the only time the word is translated rib in the entire bible. All the other times it's translated as "side."

Every translation is an interpretation and interpretations are always subject to the beliefs, preferences, and biases of the interpreter/translator. They always scream "CONTEXT!" as if that means anything but THEY don't know the context any better than anyone else. This is a piece of literature written by people they never knew, people they never can understand, in a culture they cannot fathom, for reasons they'll never know or appreciate, to a people they will never comprehend.

When you study the way the bible has been interpreted, changed, and altered due to political concerns or doctrinal preferences, it makes it all the more concrete that this is a man generated product. I mean, sheesh, we have erasures on the manuscripts, notations by the scribe's boss asking "why did you change this?" and we're now able to use AI and different radioscopic methods to visually SEE the changes that were never apparent previously.

The bible is a book of error, contradiction, and man-made stories told around ancient campfires until 600 BCE when someone decided to start writing it all down following the various tribes being released from captivity. They had different stories that HAD to be true so the scribes wove them all together as best they could. Look up the Documentary Hypothesis and it all makes sense...
