No show means remote work, right? My take on remote work is that in-person work is definitely better because it allows for more collaboration, supervision, and overall productivity.
However, remote work shouldn't be outlawed because you will encounter situations where you need it every now and then, such as if you or your child falls sick and you're able to work online but need to stay home to take care of your child or avoid spreading sickness to your co-workers. I'm not talking about Covid, just general sickness.
Another situation where remote work benefits you is if there is congested traffic on the route you take to work and no other route will get you there in time.
Because housing is constantly increasing in price regardless of who's in office, it's more expensive to live in an inner suburb within walking or short-driving distance of a business district than compared to an outer suburb rural area. If you want more square footage for your buck, you'll need to live further, and then your drive time and fuel costs increase. Remote work lessens some of that burden.
But if we can solve our housing crisis and make America affordable again, we can work in-person more. I get that Gen Z like me can be seen as entitled, but in reality we want to achieve the same American Dream that you did because we are inspired by you. We want to provide for our future families, economy, and planet, just like you. We just need to work together to tear down these walls.
