Okay so you’re allowed to complain

i would say that caring about the state of your country is valid regardless of whether you can legally vote yet or not

I can see the argument there, if you can’t legally vote yet then sure you can voice your opinion

But anyone who can vote but doesn’t absolutely does not have a right to complain about the politics

is it not true that lacking representation and rights in something should give you MORE of a right to complain? i would say its the other way around. they had no ability to influence the outcome of what happened, and therefore deserve to complain more than those of us who did. not that complaining ever helped anybody, but thats besides the point

An old teacher of mine once had a poster that read

“I [your name here] hereby recognize that by NOT voting, I am revoking my right to gripe, complain, and moan about the policies I could have helped to change.

Press hard, you’re making 365 copies.”

Really? You’re basing this off a poster you read from an old teacher? Seriously?

No im just using it as an example that supports my own beliefs. I know you’re old enough to vote so it’s in my opinion that if you did not vote then you can’t complain when the politics don’t go your way.

Everyone has the right to complain. It’s what free speech is.

Everyone also has the right to vote or to not vote. And whether or not they voted doesn’t make them any more or less qualified to complain.

But of course, this is just your rationalization to dismiss people’s ideas because of a strawman.

It’s just my opinion that if you want to complain so badly about politics and you are legally allowed to vote, you should at least take the hour out of one day every time an election rolls around so that your opinions actually impact the country. If you don’t vote, your beliefs aren’t really worth a damn. I’m sick and tired of hearing people gripe and moan about the shitty decisions the government is making when I know damn well there’s a shit ton of them who didn’t have the decency to wait in line and vote. If half of all people who supported a candidate thought “one vote doesn’t matter, I’m not going to wait in line and vote,” all of a sudden those votes matter a lot.

But again, this is my opinion. You can have yours. Just know that by not voting, your political opinions aren’t worth shit.

Your opinion is and will always be a strawman.

You aren’t proving anyone wrong or bringing the conversation forward when you say “you didn’t vote so your opinion doesn’t matter.”

Here’s the thing, though. When it comes to politics, if you don’t vote, your opinion literally has absolutely zero effect on the outcome. Me saying that someone who doesn’t vote’s opinion doesn’t matter isn’t me being mean or being a strawman. It is a matter of fact. Political opinions are different than any other kind of opinion because your beliefs politically can have an effect on not just your life but the lives of everyone who lives in this damn country. By not voting, your political opinions aren’t worth shit. I went out and voted so I could have a say in the future of this country.

thats valid ONLY if the person had the option to vote and chose not to use it
0 ups, 1mo
maybe bcuz some of us aren't old enough to vote so we can't rlly do anything other than speaking about it so your argument is irrelevant
