School is a free babysitter that winds up costing a lot. That's all it really is. I hated going there. And I'm less than satisfied paying taxes for it. Our districts have some of the worst schools in the nation, failing kids left and right. If I treated my job like that, I would be so fired.
But parents drop their kids off anyway, so they can go to work, or have some free time. It's hypocritical because it's not called Babysitting Service. It's an expensive place with expensive architecture, costly requirements, accreditation, licenses, insurance, etc. And it's all failing. Almost everybody pulled their kids out of school here.
There was probably some scandal involving a school official being arrested, but we'll leave the trial out of this until it's been decided. Point is neighbors seem to need a babysitter that is what it says it is, doesn't cost a lot, helps get kids through their home assignments, keeps them safe and out of trouble, and that's about it. They don't have the time to complain. But I do.
