my mistake orignal gangster
i mean,
insulin
their own organs
The body produces it naturally unless someone is a type 1 diabetic or their type 2 diabetes becomes so severe that the pancreas can’t make it anymore, but someone who makes synthetic insulin should be paid for their time making it and the cost of materials to make it.
When you put a price cap on anything those who make it end up not making it. It happened during the siege of Antwerp as the city imposed price controls on food, so merchants from England stopped bringing it (the price was too low for the risk). It happened again in the 50’s with price controls on beef because it was considered too high — farmers didn’t bring cattle to markets.
I think insulin costs way to much considering the people who pay you NEED IT TO LIVE
If someone stops making insulin, then someone else will take over that business, because it would still likely be profitable, relatively
The problem is that costs to make the insulin goes up but the price stays the same. Eventually it becomes impossible for anyone to make them because there won’t be a way to do it and be solvent. Eventually the materials used to make it can be used for something more profitable. If you want to bring costs down allow more generic versions so consumers can have enough choices that they go down naturally.
