I just now read about it on wiki...I know I've seen it because wiki had a spoiler alert about the end. However, it's been quite a few years so ill have to watch it again. Thanks!! Have you seen "Turn of the Screw" ..I am a bit of a classic movie fan. I saw the classic movie version with Deborah Kerr and it never left my head.
I liked it because it was going for a very different take and because, to me, Count Orlok seemed closer to the Count Dracula from Bram Stoker's novel. Also, it was very atmospheric and the only acting I didn't like was by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
It didn't grab me. I struggled to get through it. I did like the way it was filmed and the occasional use of shadows to create atmosphere. Have you seen the original album Noseratu? I haven't. Maybe we could both watch it and compare?
It's alright and also atmospheric. I could see how it would be frightening to people back then. Ever seen Shadow of the Vampire? It's (kind of) about the making of the 1922 Nosferatu. It also has Willem Dafoe.
I loved Shadow of the Vampire...so many reasons why. I especially liked the way Willem Dafoe used his fingernails to make sounds. Wow! I had to rent it...but I'm going to watch it again tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion!
I just now did some research on the original film and on Shadow of the Vampire. Now, I remember why the original film was freaky...there was a lot of weird stuff surrounding the actor. He was a method actor who was too good at being creepy. You might like to read this article

And I'm going to watch Shadows of the Vampire. Thanks! I'll let you know what I thought. How fun!
