There are several reasons Peter could not have been the first pope.
1. Jesus healed his mother-in-law so he was married.
2. Peter said to a crippled man at the temple “Silver and gold have I none.” So he was too poor to be a pope.
3. When he went to Cornelius and Cornelius tried to worship him he refused. What pope does that?
4. In Galatians Paul recounts the visit Peter made to Antioch and said he had to rebuke Peter to his face. So much for papal infallibility.
