yeah i definitely lean right wing but i don't want anything to do with nazism
as far as i'm concerned, nazism isn't even on the right-wing of the spectrum
in 20th century Europe, "left" and "right was a matter of basically the green idea vs nationalism. Since Hitler wanted to build Germany back from the ashes, he would've been considered right wing at the time. He would not be considered right wing by any means today, but many people on the left like to ignore that context bc fearmongering people into thinking your opponents are all Hitler is a sure-fire way to gain votes.
Left and right constantly change throughout history. 15 to 20 years ago, it was about progressivism vs traditional values. I would say nowadays, it's pretty much communism vs everyone else. The Overton window (the spectrum of what is culturally acceptable) has been rapidly shifting leftward for the last 2 decades (which I don't mind as long as the party is more liberal than leftist, because liberals still like the country).
That's why many progressives voted Trump this election. The left has gone so far left it's not a suitable home for most people who lean left. Censoring speech is one of the first steps toward dictatorship. Riling people up against certain people groups is another (and there's a lot of that happening today).
