Way back in the day when I was a pup, I worked with a woman who had come here from Romania many years prior. I was waaaaaay more liberal then than I am now, so what she said didn't have the impact on me that it would now.. One day we were talking about her life in Romania. She looked me square in the eye and said, "when the communists came, they took everything."
