The inconvenient truth is the planet has been warming and cooling all on its own for millions of years before the discovery of fossil fuels. The planet is a couple of big volcanoes or meteor impacts away from another ice age. The Milanovich cycles also affect the global climate cyclically. Sunspot cycles and perhaps other unknown cyclical variations in solar output are known to affect the earths temperature. All these forces involve energies greater than anything mankind produces and can affect.
Perhaps we should be planning how to warm things up and produce more crops when a super volcano or meteor sends global temperatures plummeting.
