You could be seen but not heard and only speak when you were spoken to.  Yes, we could go anywhere as long as we were home when the street lights came on but we also had; Our parents were oh so very SELF INVOLVED; commercials that came on every night asking parents all across this country, "It's 10:00 o'clock.  Do you know where your children are?"; Most of the time they didn't know or care. Hey, it could be a lot worse. You could neither be seen nor heard.

If people never had birthday parties back then, that means the only parties they had in their lives were their wedding ceremonies and/or graduation ceremonies.

We grew up and celebrated our kids. We threw the biggest parties for our children.

I just made the meme cuz youth seems to understand their parents and grandparents are people too. They cry in YouTube videos because, well, nobody ever acknowledged them.

They deserve to be acknowledged though. 🤟🦌❤️
