Maybe. They are also saying it could be an original asteroid from when our galaxy was created (Big Bang Theory). That's why they consider it an ancient relic and are.excited because it might help explain how life began on earth.

jupiter has enough gravity to pull in asteroids that are on a collision course with earth. without jupiter, we'd be cooked
