They have more opportunity than you think. I’ve often encountered “homeless” people who refuse to work because they can get more standing on a street corner with a sign saying they need money. A former co-worker of mine said that they would regularly give away pizzas that had been returned to their restaurant only to be told that they didn’t want that particular kind of pizza. Thus most aren’t actually starving here, and (as I have said previously) for those who are there are many private charities available which do a much better job of helping them than enforced charity ever can.
But while we’re on that subject, I ask again what you do to help people in such situations? Don’t give me that “I’m just a kid” excuse either because you’re perfectly capable of picking up a ladle at a soup kitchen.
