All of this was avoidable. In Colorado, enviro-nazis protested the harvest of aspen. The Forest Service explained aspen has a life span of 90-130 years and that the average aspen forest in Colorado was 80 years old. They also explained that aspen comes up from the roots like strawberries and self renew when thinned. Now 45 years after they ran Louisiana Pacific out of Colorado we are having a massive die off of over mature aspen. That, combined with drought induced beetle kill pine, and most of Colorado is a tinderbox now. Who needs enemies when we have liberals?
