Both true. My father in law is a retired CalFire Captain. These were never issues in the 70s and 80s. Newsom and Clinton f'ed everything up. During Bill Clinton's term, he signed an act to not devastate or create roads in forested areas....meaning no maintenance or brush clearing. Full circle now, with fuel for fires.

According to BBC, yes "climate change" has a lot to do with it.
Not the fact that they aren't de-foresting like they should; or clearing brush; or having controlled burns; or adequate water supply (not realizing they could easily desalinate the water right there); or realizing that eucalyptus trees are freaking fire time bombs!
