Hitch hiking to Starfleet seems more reasonable

"I wish we could explore space, but I'd have to get better grades in order to join Starfleet."

Or NASA or SpaceX, for that matter.

I wish I would have studied more science: it intimidated me. Now it fascinates me and I can't catch up.
