Genesis 1:27-28 AMP
KJV
So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. [Col 3:9, 10; James 3:8, 9] And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]; and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

Thus if man is made in God's image, dressing as an animal perverts this image, and thus you sully the image of God. To be a furry Christian is a juxtaposition.

To wear a fursuit whilst reading the bible is abhorrent

It was not just man that was made in God's image you know, all of his creations have a part of God and his love in them in some way. So you are saying it is not right for humanity to represent and find meaning in the qualities God's other creations as well and not only view them as resources to exploit, if we are one of them as well?

Not only that, the bible also uses terms and comparisons related to other animals as symbols and metaphors for specific people as well. Jesus as the “lion of Judah” or the Pharisees as a “brood of vipers,” God’s people mounting up “on wings like eagles,” etc. God’s people are regularly called a “flock.” Indeed, it seems that one reason God created animals was to teach us about ourselves and about Him.

Besides, while humans were made in God's image, this doesn't have to mean our literal image, it's likely we don't look exactly like him, "image" could mean our internal image as well, the qualities of who we are and how we act that make God, and thus humans good. If we do not already look exactly like God physically, then appearing different physically would not "perverted" this image much more than it already is. If we lose the image of God in our soul and our behavior, then this image of what we are as a man would be sullied.

it is likely that humans were created in God's literal image, as we are singular amongst animals, every species can be mistook for another, but we are unique, we are distinguishable, and it is not likely our souls are made in God's image, as we know sin, and imperfection.

How is it likely that we are in his literal image, is there a source in the bible that explicitly states our physical representation of him is meant to be exact? And furthermore what you said about us being distinguishable, yes that's true, most animals of the same species look identical, while humans have many different possible features with none specifically being more "God-like" than what another might have, the hair on our head and face, the shape and build of our bodies, the shape of our face, the different shades of our skin depending upon ethnicity, the differences between our two different entire genders, ect. Our literal image can have 'imperfections' from God's appearance, if must or we would all look identical, yet this does not make us less human, or less of his creation.

If you were created by God and carry the compassionate and noble qualities of him in your soul, you are his child, you are man underneath all, no simple costume can change this.

It doesn't actually change whether you are man or beast, but it is a display of hubris, a display of defiance, the fact that, no, God made you human, but you're going to masquerade as an animal to "stick it to the man". To me this is either impotence or unwillingness to conform to God's will above all, whilst I still believe in my previous points.

God also made us as humans with free will, both in the law of America and the law of God we have a right to express and explore ourselves the way we wish so long as it is not harmful to another man. No sin states that wearing a cartoonish animal costume for funsies is going against God. Especially if you know and acknowledge that you are still human in skin.

It's little more than an act, not one that the person wearing the suit needs to believe in, imagine a play or a film for example, in a play you dress up as a different person, doesn't even have to be human, you could act out crimes that God would not approve of, war, death, treachery, all to tell a dramatic story or entertain, or any other reason.

But at the end of the day it's not real, so long as you know this façade you are putting on when acting as someone or something else is not real and have no intent to deceive others into believing it is so, then there is no real wrong is there?

But the crucial thing is the hubris, these people will stand up and defend their "fursona" and in many cases if given the opportunity to become their "fursona" would take it, it's not about recognising that you're human, it's about not wanting to be human, and im nor trying to limit freedom of expression and free will, im steering it in the right direction.
0 ups, 1mo
A person 'steering' another's free will as you put it, versus trying limit it...? I see little difference between those, if you could elaborate on it please. But you do have a good point about them wanting to become their sona... Still, as you said it is in many cases, not every furry does truly want this, so the notion of a furry Christian because of this reason alone still isn't entirely impossible.

So if it is more about 'hubris' than it is about their own humanity, what is it hubris of specifically? That they believe they are above God or able to defy him in some way, yes? That would infact be worst form of hubris a so-called Christian could have. But that's a little bit deep, how would we know if he has the intent to do something so bad as defying God himself just by wearing a costume and acting as something he's not for fun?

I'll also reinforce something I've already said once, becoming a different being on the outside does not make one a different being on the inside. A man is initially created by God as his child and holds his noble qualities in their soul along with the belief in him, and that he is the ultimate good. This is what makes a Christian, undeniably.

And I forgot to mention, if our souls were not made in God's image atleast partly, then why are we capable of acting with his grace atl all? Why do we have this natural kinship and compassion for not only ourselves, but all fellow living beings? If we were not like God inside as well, then is it only coincidence that many of can us have the same good qualities of him in our souls despite our imperfections?

You make a good point, but I believe that man is made in God's physical image too, as God is referred to as He, and the first man was a man, the first woman his counterpart.
