I know this is going to upset a lot of people, but at least one parent should be paid to stay home and raise their children. It might be the most important job there is, and it should be fully subsidized.

Also, if a parent hits the child even once, mandatory therapy and parenting classes. If they continue to do it, they lose custody. The child is a human being and their rights to their own well-being are more important than their parent's rights to control. Period.

Yeah I said it.

Mars Fae says the bible tells how to do an abortion...lol! Have you read that passage That Victoria referenced? She is to drink holy water mixed with dirt from the tabernacle floor. Hmm.

Sounds about as scientific as many other procedures in the Bible.

I don't, but I googled up this https://researchoutreach.org/articles/revisiting-medicinal-plants-bible-holy-land/ which surveys some biblical medicines and concludes:

"We should not forget that the Bible is not a book on medicine but a collection of writings on the religious experience of ancient Israel including historical accounts, parables, hymns and didactic writings. The reason that many plants are not mentioned as medicines should not be sought in the belief that God has singular healing power but rather that the authors of the different books of the Bible were not specialist healers or physicians and focused rather on the intellectual challenge of God’s word."

My professor wrote her thesis on witchcraft in the bible. The passage we've been discussing sounds like witchcraft.

Luke was a physician

. . . according to the received tradition. We don't actually have evidence of that, or that the author's name was actually Luke. But, even if the author of the Gospel of Luke was in fact a professional physician in the 2nd century, 2nd century medicine included a lot of ideas that we now know are medically wrong or even dangerous.

But he wasn't called to write a book about medicine. The bible isn't a medical textbook, in other words.

What is it that you wish to understand? Or are you wishing to only debate?

You would have preferred that I said, "I think you're avoiding the point of this discussion."..? Why would I say that to you?
