Try reading the title, and you might get the point of my custom made template. The first two panels are a strawman I'm responding to. The rest is the reality of the situation being strawmaned. The securing of the board is the goal, tariffs are a threat of punishment, meant to change policy to get the boarders secured. Securing boarder will hamper drugs illegally crossing the boarder.

I did make a spelling error, I also can see how securing the boarder will hamper the drug trade, and free up more agents to stop drugs being smuggled in by illegally crossing mules. You'll also have to stop smuggling through check points as well.

We went after the drug flow crossing the Mexican border. So then they started taking it by boat to the Dominican Republic. When measures we're taken to stop that, they started going straight to Puerto Rico. After measures were taking to interfere with that, they actually started using homemade submarines.

Your argument relies on them using only one method at a time and outdated info, currently much comes across the board with the criminal immigrants because that is currently easier.

They'll also dig tunnels to run drugs, use drones, and other new stuff. No one method will stop it all, but leaving a gapping hole to pass drugs through isn't a solution either.
