That is fair, but we can't just deport all the poor people who arrive at our doorstep.

Why not? We take them back to their countries where they belong to, then if you really cared about them, you will go with them to their country as missionaries do and help them rebuild and have a better life in their own country. By doing so, they can live a dignified life in their country without having the need of crossing another sovereign border illegally. The problem is that no one (unless missionary) wants to get off the confort of their home to help anyone, specially to go work at a shitty country.

But doing so is very dangerous and what if the country is in a war and there is no way we could send our own civillians to fix that problem, we need to atleast let the more endagered people enter our country.

Ah, the excuses and the what if's. That did not took long. I am sure church missionaries go out to help them at their country with the same loving and caring heart as yours.
