Looking for racism, just look at the Democrat party of racist elites.

Correct. In addition to the South being a slave owning stronghold, not too long before that slavery was practiced all throughout the United States of America and into Canada and all throughout the rest of the Americas. Granted, not everybody on slaves, but it was an European important. So whatever political parties emerged here, they came out of slave owning society.
