Not trying to start a fight but I personally think the popular vote works better because if you’re voting red in a state like California or Blue in a state like Texas your vote doesn’t really matter in the end

Look at the county maps for this election-red over the vast majority of the country. All of that area could be disenfranchised without the electoral college.

Like BlueCorn pointed out, the Electoral College disenfranchises people within states as all votes go to the winner of each state. A bit ironic as the argument for it is that it supposedly does the opposite, when in fact it's not only canceling the selection of many voters, it's handing their votes to a candidate that they did not vote for.
