People are surprised that evangelicals follow
behind someone as impure as Donald Trump.
But this isn't the first time.
In America's history there has been one
Evangelical president: Jimmy Carter.
He tried to practice his faith in
an inclusive and tolerant way.
Then the evangelical leadership turned away
from him towards divorcée Ronald Reagan.
The religious right has always
favored the right over religion.
