DNC Procedures are Used For Several Healthcare Issues: not just for abortion | ARE YOU SERIOUS?
MY MOTHER DIDN'T ABORT ME BUT MY PLACENTA COULD KILL HER? ABORTION BANS MEAN A DNC CAN'T BE PERFORMED TO CLEAR THE PLACENTA IF IT REMAINS STUCK IN THE UTERUS. MOTHERS WILL DIE FROM SEPSIS.

IF A DNC CAN'T BE USED FOR ABORTIONS, IT CAN'T BE USED TO CLEAR A PLACENTA NOR CLEAN A UTERUS FOR MENOPAUSE COMPLICATIONS. | image tagged in menopause, healthcare, dnc, msnbc, abortion, womens rights | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

It's D&C, not DNC, btw -- but I had one for that reason. I'm glad that there were medical professionals who were well-trained in the procedure and didn't have to check in with the hospital's legal team before doing what they needed to do to protect my health.

Thank you for correcting me on dnc v d&c..I thought I had it wrong and didn't want anyone to think I meant the Democratic party, lol. So I looked it up: Internet said dnc. I hate making mistakes & then running around like a chicken saying the sky is falling!
.
Whay did you have to have one for? Can you explain that further?

I had a spontaneous miscarriage (of an intended pregnancy), but no bleeding afterwards, so the doctor did a D&C to get out the stray tissue that could have otherwise led to dangerous sepsis. Funny thing, after I had the procedure, two older women in my family said that they'd had the same thing. It's an astonishingly common (and sometimes LIFESAVING) piece of healthcare that these yahoos are trying to put outside of our reach.

Why wouldn't it

Because the same tools used to clean out the remaining placenta are used in abortions. The abortion bans include using the tools. Its a tool that scrapes the wall of the uterus. It's called a DNC procedure. It was also used to help my mom during a complication during menopause.

then wouldn't an abortion ban only stop doctors from using those tools for an abortion?

No, it is banning them from using the tools that scrape the lining of the uterus. Even if the placenta is stuck inside, they can't give the mother a DNC procedure because it is the same procedure they can use in an abortion.

so, if the ban was just against using them for abortion, everything would be fine?

There is a lot that has to do with the abortion issue. I really wish it wasn't called "abortion ban." Abortion used after casual sex just isn't the full picture. We get such basic info about things. I wish they would have clarified that I am in danger if my baby's placenta gets stuck and they can't clean it out. I literally have to consider which state I should be in when it gets closer to the time to deliver it. I just found out about this today! It would have been nice if the politicians and media would have explained the "abortion" laws that have already been in effect for several years. I try to keep up with things...but there is sooo much to learn.

Abortion used after casual sex is 90% of the picture

Why is this a problem? If your personal morality forbids you from having sex outside of marriage, that's an issYOU, not an issUSA.

why should unborn children pay the price for people who have casual sex but don't want to take responsibility?

Go read up on birth control and think about the statistics for failure before you make this argument. Also, NO. A woman gets to own her body enough that she doesn't have to spend nine months of her life growing a fetus if she doesn't choose to.

When you were pregnant, did you use a midwife or obstetrician?

Nope.

why not

Women are already dying because of abortion bans. Doctors are being discouraged from keeping the tools and offering the procedures even when it's medically necessary.

were these procedures performed before Roe v Wade?

Yes, for thousands of years, and also no, in places where abortion-related medicine was banned for religious or political reasons.

For a more complete picture of the effects of an abortion ban, read and think about this:

OMG. I read the article. Here is some info from the article. Worth reading innentirety.
Maternal mortality skyrocketed, doubling between 1965 and 1989.Another consequence of Romania’s abortion ban was that hundreds of thousands of children were turned over to state orphanages. When communism collapsed in Romania in 1989, an estimated 170,000 children were found warehoused in filthy orphanages. Having previously been hidden from the world, images emerged of stick-thin children, many of whom had been beaten and abused. Some were left shackled to metal bed frames.
.
Making abortion illegal will not lead to women having more babies. So if the goal is to bring about more lives and to protect more lives, this is not the instrument to use,” said Maria Bucur, a professor of history and gender studies at Indiana University.
.
Starting in 2000, Nelson examined the impact that Romania’s orphanages had on children in post-communist Romania and found that many were left with severe developmental impairment and mental health issues. For some, their confinement in orphanages even had a physical impact on the size of their brains.

what do the atrocities of a communist regime have to do with abortion

You used the correct word "atrocities." It's history of humanity. An example of what could happen.

There's nothing authoritarian about protecting the lives of unborn children

Fascist regimes also deny the sanctity of human life, but you were talking about an article written about the consequences of a communist one

Many of the issues facing humanity surround SHAME. Whatever has happened in your past, I hope you don't live in SHAME: it's a horrible condition that causes chaos in the mind. Please continue to educate yourself on history and how all of humanity struggles. We are never alone. Peace out.

The consequences don't come from the communism: they come from the denial of women's rights.
1 up, 2mo
It is the fascist movement that wants to ban abortion. Both are authoritarian regimes.

Sorry for error...it's a D&C procedure
Dilation and curettage (D&C) is a procedure to remove tissue from inside your uterus. Health care professionals perform dilation and curettage to diagnose and treat certain uterine conditions — such as heavy bleeding — or to clear the uterine lining after a miscarriage or abortion.
.
It can be done if:
You have unusual uterine bleeding.
You have bleeding after menopause.
You have unusual endometrial cells, which are discovered during a routine test for cervical cancer.

The abortion ban isn't just about abortion. It's about healthcare for complications during & after delivery.
