In My Day, You Paid Attention In Class !

Here in the UK, all teachers did this in the 1970's (Yes, I'm that old)
I was speaking to someone who was at school in the 1940's - He clearly remembers being struck !

I wonder when that practice was discontinued ?

There are probably lots of teachers who wish they still could.

I swear they learnt to do that as a part of the teacher training course :)

In my day, you don’t put a space before an exclamation point!
