The Pilgrims were, in fact, immigrants. They even relied on socialism to help them survive the winter because they didn’t know how to live in this foreign land. The Wompanoag people shared their food and taught the Pilgrims how to hunt and fish so the Pilgrims relied heavily on government assistance in order to survive the winter or they would’ve been toast.
