But seriously, I'm not stupid enough to vote for the Green presidential or national candidates because I know that's not how one-dimensional two-party splitting can be broken through, especially in the US's sytemically corrupt electoral system. I vote for Democrats more often than Greens, Libertarians or Peace & Freedom. And I have never nor will ever vote for a Republican. I believe GOP shouldn't be allowed on ballots.

Also, yeah, the Green parties in other countries aren't infected with American political woo and derp.

If they spent the money they raise during the national campaigns on their down ballot races in places like California/Oregon/Washington, they'd have a real chance at breaking in at the state level.

But they don't.

It's self-defeating. They'll never win the presidency, and they just harm the chances of their next-best option.

Because of our corrupt first-past-the-post winner-take-all electoral(-college) system. We should have a ranked choice parliamentary system or something like it.

Because of your comment, I had to go back and re-research this and did find that there were some greens that held office. All but one ran as a Green, got elected and switched to being a Democrat. There was 1 that ran as a green and then stayed for their term.

So...1. There's been 1. So, I was wrong in the title.

But I still stand by that they're not a serious political party. The Libertarians are better organized and focused. They actually get people elected at the state & local level. The national Green party doesn't take any of their funds and send them down ballot to actually get people elected. And that's why they're not serious. The current Green party is paid to lose.
