I feel zero pity or mercy for convicted rapists but I do hope all convicted rapists, especially this convicted rapist, get help, in prison, for the rest of their lives.

Yeah, I know. And I know every Trump supporter in my neighborhood suffers from, and diagnosed, with mental health issues. I always hope for their healing. But I don't want any of them to guide an entire nation!

My mother was always a Church of Christ kinda gal and those were the churches she'd take us to back in the day. I took my daughter with me for a visit to Texas long ago and Mom asked if I'd like to take my daughter to church. I regret answering with such passion because I think I hurt my mother's feelings. (She had no problem destroying me but I'm not her so I felt bad because I have a conscience). I said, "You just told me that the boys will put on a Christmas play inside the church during service and that AFTER church was over everyone would go OUTSIDE so the girls could put on their play. WHY THE HELL WOULD I TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO A CHURCH THAT TEACHES ALL THE WOMEN AND GIRLS THAT GOD LOVES HIS SONS MORE THAN HIS DAUGHTERS?"

I'd feel no guilt or regret after saying such a thing.

She definitely made a point. They could have started with the girls play, too.

Or had a play that wasn't segregated.

I didn't want to assume it was segregated just because church leaders felt girls belong outside. I wondered if the play needed an outdoor environment. Perhaps her mom was clumsy in how she phrased it? Regardless, we all agree girls should not be segregated: it's particularly insulting in an environment where embracing all should be upheld.

Nope. It's just the way Church of Christ believe. Women are cooks, maids, birthers of the men's children. They teach the girls their only job in life is to do whatever a man tells her to do and to do it with her mouth shut. Girls only hope and dream is a man and children. Nothing else. Oh, and, if he's an abusivean ... you're doing something wrong that makes him abusive

Ee gad! I am glad I've never had to endure such a congregation.

Lol. I grew up in it not knowing it was messed up. It helped my parents control me.

That was a good point to make unless the play had outdoor scenes?

Nope. The rule is No women can speak in church.

Why do you regret answering her with such passion (per your original comment)? Seems appropriate for the situation.

She was my mother. I had a bad habit of "shocking" her on purpose because of the things she did to me. I feel bad because I hurt her on purpose with that statement. I was trying to shame her. I'm not usually like that. I don't hurt people just because they hurt me... and I hurt her. She loved her church. It was all she had. But ... she did discuss it with her preacher and the church elders and after that ... the girls were allowed to have their plays inside! So ... alls well that ends well.

Sounds to me like you were setting healthy boundaries and protecting your children.
