Gotta disagree. That old time education taught critical thinking and how to ponder to a solution. This is not emphasized in today's education system.

No, it absolutely did not - the education most Americans received was simple regurgitation in an environment where they were taught they could trust what they read.

As a people, we were completely unprepared for the internet where misinformation and disinformation not only spread like wildfire, but are also highly profitable.

I often hear that "do your own research" bit when asking for absolute proof of things such as Man Made Climate Change, Trump's guilt etc. But I never get anything more than sometimes a link to an article by some leftie on the internet paid to put out propaganda. Never any real world examples.

Looking for actually facts on Google or MSN means wading through pages of garbage to get to the truth. Anyone with a smidgen of common sense can recognize the truth from the garbage
