Personally I came to that conclusion back in the middle 1970s when I was pretty much forced into a machinists union and then when I actually needed it for some help it turned out that the people who could made a decision on my case were having a 'meeting' in Hawaii and I was located in Texas. That was an eyeopener at the time for a working man.
