I studied what it does already. Communism makes people more willing to help others. If one has lived a communist life for even a while, they are more likely to want to help someone in need compared to someone who hasn't lived like a communist

People more willing to help others may adopt communism, which is why it might work on a smaller level, like with kibbutzes or communes. But how long those may last or if they can spread is limited by the fact that most people simply are not willing to help others unless they can get back more than they put into it.

With no motivation other than having to do the minimum and that maybe even by force, people have no incentive to do anything more than the bare minimum. Sloth sets in, economy sputters and slows.... and, well, we've seen the rest.
