Yoda himself, surely the greatest Jedi Knight, with the Force as his ally fought the Emperor and lost. It wasn't goofy Jedi religious beliefs in the Force or light saber wielding which carried the day against the Emperor. It was Luke's refusal to kill his own father as the Jedi would have him do and his father's paternal instincts kicking in which brought about the Emperor's defeat. So it actually was family attachments which the Jedi despise that carried the day against the Emperor. Ironic.
