It was a pretty sick plane, but it wasn't enough to go toe to toe with Japanese fighters.

You must be confused with some other plane, P-38 was great against Japanese fighters

It was great against Nazi fighters, that I know. We were kind of getting our asses kicked by the Japanese in the air until the Corsair came out though.
