I'm trying.to write and can't find the right words. Can you dialogue for a moment? For instance, I'm wondering if Satan is a general serving under Lucifer. So many thoughts. Luciferian is different than Satanic. Lucifer means bringer of light. Not confident on writing or Scripture to explain a difference. Is there a difference? etc. One reply has sparked many thoughts. I'd appreciate your help.

In the Bible, they are mentioned separately. Nowhere did it say that they were one and the same entity, even if they perform similar functions. Same for Beelzebub. However it has been years since I read it; I might have forgotten something.

From a pre-Abrahamic perspective, they are completely different. Lucifer was once a God of light, identified with Venus/the morning star. The Shayton/Satans were an especially powerful race of djinn 🧞. Baal Zevuv, which means "Lord of the Lofty Abode" not "Lord of the Flies," was a God worshipped in what is now Palestine.

By the way, Mephistopheles is not in the Bible, as far as I remember.

Thinking about it more I think that the Satan and Lucifer in the Bible would be opposed to each other. Satan was actually loyal to God; he caused trouble for people but that was his job. He was "The Adversary" who tested the worthiness of humanity. He pretended to be a snake to trick Eve, & was the one who tortured Job, as God told him to. Lucifer on the other hand appeared later & did rebel against God.

I said before that the Shayton were the most powerful race of djinn; I realized that was wrong. They are the most evil i.e. causing trouble for humanity. The most powerful race of djinn were the Ifrit/Afreet. They had horns, red fur, & cloven hooves -- the physical appearance of the Devil seems to be based on the Ifrit.

Interesting about the djinn. I'd disagree about Satan's role. I've got too much experience with Satanists to agree. However....here's where Gnostic stories go deeper. God would be Yaldabaoth and Satan would be loyal to him. The Lord, or Forethought, is not the same as God.

Also, that's an interesting thing about Satan being a djinn. Do you have a reference for that I can research more?

I read it in one of my religion books, but they're in storage now, so I can't say which one. Here's an article I found: https://www.britannica.com/topic/shaitan
