We also generate more money than most of Europe combined, and have a massive military budget, as well as having no enemies of sizable military power in the entirety of the Americas. Most of our enemies lie in the "old world," which is where our European allies sit, and where most of our military operations are. By placing part of our military in Europe, we simultaneously defend our closest allies from our enemies while drastically shortening the distance from our forces to many of our enemies.
