This is a simple lie. Ask any capitalist, they will tell you that their life under capitalism is prosperous

Capitalists are people who own capital. Capitalism only benefits capital owners

And anyone can obtain capital. (I'm speaking of what I know, so just about the US here...)

So everyone can prosper. If they want to.

If they want to work hard enough to better their situation.

Actually capitalism was made to benefit 1% of people at the expense of 99%. That's how it was designed.

We have enough food for everyone in the USA so why do people starve
1 up, 10mo,

I don’t believe anyone is starving.
They might not be able to buy as much quality food, but that’s only because of Harris/Biden economic policies, energy policies, and tax policies.
But they aren’t starving.

Of course capitalism doesn't solve poverty.

When I was dirt poor, there was still capitalism. It was out there doing its thing while I did (well, didn't...) do mine. For some bizarre reason, it didn't solve my poverty.

Then it dawned on me. And I solved it. (using capitalism)

Capitalism doesn't solve poverty, people do.

There is plenty to go around in terms of individuals accumulating wealth. The People who are doing well don't do better when others are doing poorly. That would be crazy. The better everyone does, well... the better we all do.

You can't say that about any other economic system.

Capitalism + freedom = the greatest, most prosperous country that has lifted more people out of poverty than any other, that the world has ever known

Communism is a beautiful system. It goes like this. You need something? Well it's easy to get. You get burned out after a long day of helping others? Take a rest with no financial issues. Not interested in your job anymore? You can just stop. No financial risk of anything.

[deleted]

It is communism. Communism is collective ownership of resources and no economic hoerarchies
0 ups, 10mo,
1 reply
Collective ownership where everyone is an equal does not mean anyone just gets to take off after lunch to go golfing on a whim. That's an indulgence only a Capitalist boss takes.

In Communism - REAL Communism - everyone in the collective works equally hard, and they will work hard. And the only way you can get people to be truly dedicated to doing so is on a small voluntary scale, like in a Kibbutz or Jewish communal villages out in rural Argentina. It just doesn't work on a massive scale like a country. Selfish autocratic types always find a way to hijack the system, and before you know it you have a fiefdom. In a society like that, the only incentive is not getting in trouble, so people end up doing the minimum they can get away with. There's no reason to strive, and thus innovation dies and society sputters and rots.

That's the literal definition of communism
2 ups, 10mo,
1 reply
The literal definition of Communism is communal decisions by the community.
It's not a pantry where you go pick off the shelf what you need, take the day off, and kick back and watch TV if you feel like it.
If the community decides you and the rest of the town are going to spend the next three months straight building a dam with a trowel and a bucket, then you do it.

You wouldn't be given a choice. And you could choose to go along, and 'live', or not go along, and go to a 're-education' (slave labor) camp like they have in China. Or did no one ever tell you about those?

Describe communism in a non-narrow-minded way
1 up, 10mo,
1 reply
"From each according to his ability, to each according to their needs".

Communism takes from those who produce more, and gives to those who produce less. Common human behavior has shown that when everyone is rewarded the same regardless of effort, the effect will be for everyone to do as little as possible. There is no incentive to work harder without the reward of your extra effort. This happened to the colony in Virginia under the1609 charter. The colonists starved. What would YOU have to offer, in such a system, if your skills were insufficient and/or unneeded and the resources were insufficient?

"Communism takes from those who produce more, and gives to those who produce less."

That's capitalism where all the money is given to the owner rather than to the worker

Workers don't work for free, silly. If it isn't voluntary, it's called slavery. Why not read the rest of the post instead of stopping in the middle. It would help your reading comprehension.
[deleted]
0 ups, 10mo,

It's not voluntary because you have to work or you starve. And having someone work for you and making money off that work is slavery no matter how much the slave is paid
1 up, 10mo,
1 reply
Work is a fact of life no matter what economic system you live under, and in every system there are people on the top, and people on the bottom, and all the ones in between. If you didn't work in a communist system, little comrade, you wouldn't eat. Communism is supposed to be for the WORKERS not lazy little children who spout some sugar-coated propaganda on internet forums.
