Nah. Quite a few food based 3d printers uses edible filament that it layers on top of other layers to make a shape of the food. Chef 3d (used to make dough based food like biscuits and simple pizzas) for example has a plant based filament that can be used to mimic the taste of meat. Some of them require more traditional ingredients though, like the pancakebot 3d which will take your pancake batter and make 3d printed pancake shapes.
