Many black people identify as black, as does she. Im not sure a Jamaican would identify themselves as an African American, while black, they're not technically from Africa, unless you go back hundreds of generations.

My mom was Italian and my dad Polish. I identify as both. If asked if I am Italian, I say yes. If asked if I am Polish, I say yes. This isn't that complicated.

Also, the KKK wasn't formed until AFTER the Civil War. Read a book.
