We're told this is the damage from a bullet from an AR 15 traveling 2000mph...not to mention the Shockwave alone from the velocity would more than likely damage hearing.

First, where did you get the photo, 2nd who said hearing wasn't damaged. Was it confirmed to be an AR15? Lots of assumptions here.

No hearing assessment has been officially done yet, but considering where he was supposedly struck you would of heard a report by now about loss or damage from himself.
So far, the authorities have identified the weapon as an AR type — not specifically an AR 15. Although this is the most likely weapon used, there are many AR rifles. It's a brand.
