What makes him a good pick over someone like Rand Paul?

Trump gets to make the VP choice. He has all the metrics, I don't. My guess is that he secures the Rust Belt vote, much like Pence did. He is younger, so he helps there & a friend told me it makes it OK to have been wrong about Trump & change your mind, because the optic is that Vance did.

That makes sense. Add in that everyone on the left hates Vance as much as Trump and it becomes more compelling.

I like The Pauls. I think they are right but the timing wasn't. Trump may also realize how much it takes out of a man that is doing it correctly, so a younger guy got the nod.
