meanwhile me who only can only churn out the same old "hyper-OP escapist self-insert that can oneshot everything" and "intended to be cool-looking, knight-like guy with at least a semi-tragic past" characters:

I keep accidentally making overpowered characters. It's actually becoming a problem for keeping things semi-balanced

i mostly just solve the problem by the fact that i have my own universe where i can simply slap 'em into
the main characters are literally 3 terminator knockoffs, the rest of the overpowered characters are spread out in different dimensions and stuff

I usually have to go and nerf some of my characters. I nerfed one of my more recent characters by giving them crippling anxiety.

i just go the lazy route and powerscale everything, but even then the main trio are literally designed to be ridicilously OP to the point where it's not even funny
and there's also the fact that they get more and more apathetic and misanthrophic as the lore goes on (they originally actually helped the human race and gave them some of their OP tech), to the point where they just embrace the generic killer robot trope and go murdering in random dimensions and universe (they keep their world's humans alive though, because if they killed them too then almost one century of their help would have been for nothing)

I have a few characters that are designed to be really powerful, but I make sure I don't go over board in order to avoid plot holes and a general imbalance in power
