Funny how liberals always want to get rid of the EC because it gives a voice to people outside the major population centers, but don’t want to get rid of the senate which does the same thing in the legislative branch.

The senate is ingrained in our constitution.
The electoral college was made up later to calm down slave owners and keep black people from having a voice in America.

And if the shoe was on the other foot conservatives would be bitching non stop about how the electoral college giving up to a 7point handicap to the minority party is bs.

Incorrect. When Clinton and Obama won by virtue of the EC we did not desire to get rid of it. Same when Barry Goldwater lost to Johnson, when Dewey and Wilkie lost. It’s only demon-rats who whine about getting rid of the check against what James Madison called “The potential tyranny of the majority.”

Bill won the popular vote by nearly 9% more than Dole. (49.2 to 40.7)
Obama won with 52% of the popular vote.

There literally hasn’t been a Republican president who won the popular vote to get into office since George HW bush. And if you’re talking a Republican who got in first try you’d have to go all the way back to EISENHOWER. In 1952.
Hell Trump didn’t even win the popular vote in 2016.

And don’t even get me started on the bullshit the bush family pulled on gore in 2000.

The simple fact is without the EC as a crutch the Republican Party is nothing and they know it and even with that handicap they are barely holding to power.

The federalist papers are not in the constitution they are the equivalent of editors notes and should be viewed as such.

Additionally incorrect if you would read a third grade book called “The Federalist Papers.” Published by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay — concurrent with the Constitution.

So should only land owning white men be able to vote again.

We’ve changed our systems before to better represent everyone in America and the electoral college system should be no different.

It should be reformed by reallocating votes to a percentage based on voters and not an all or one system or abolish it all together.

It does not function as intended and has been weaponized to overrule the will of the voters.
