There are lots of people on the right and left that leave comments open. Those are the ones I pay attention to. Even if we disagree, communication is advanced.
Most of the time when a leftist has disabled their comments..it’s because they literally can’t comment.
Sometimes it’s deserved other times it’s a certain group of conservatives going on a mass flagging campaign so the user gets comments disabled or banned.
