Should America had just done nothing?

We had every right to invade Afghanistan. We should have killed each and every Taliban terrorist and any who gave material support to them. We should have bombed them back to the Stone Age and got the hell out.
No “nation building”, no “humanitarian aid”, no nothing.

How I would've done it-
1) Cut all ties to OPEC and start drilling our own oil.
2) Turned Mecca into the world's biggest pothole.
3) Put Saudi Arabia in the same crosshairs as Afghanistan.
4) Don't stop attacking until the other side unconditionally surrenders and signs the required papers. Since terrorist aren't a legit military then no prisoners were to be taken.
