I'd say they're just about equal. Looking at a tree, hugging a tree, is a great thing but it's oh so much better if you know as much about that tree as we know today. It's like reading their bio before you meet them. The trees I've planted, named and watched grow feel different than the feral ones too. lol.
Oh, here's an example. Long, long ago, in a land far far away, there was a film called "The Shining". I saw it at the theater like everyone else. Had no clue what had happened to Jack to make all that gore necessary. I didn't understand what the film was really about until I got the book and read it.
Experiences are very important to me and, for me, learning is an important part of that experience. ((I think it's more of a safety thing now... the more you know the safer you'll be 😉)
