Why not just point all the fans West for awhile... Be just as good

Aliens are more likely to wipe us out for destroying the planet than accept us into the Intergalactic Conglomerate.

The earth is like a zoo to the aliens. They travel light years to come see the millions of diverse species our earth has. However, there is one parasitic species called homo sapiens who is destroying that zoo, by causing thousands of species to go extinct, and threatening the entire planet by using fossil fuels which is causing the climate to change in a negative way, further threatening even more extinctions. Get rid of the parasite!
