Child labor being used in meat slaughterhouses in dangerous conditions has led many times to deaths of children. Many of which who were employed illegally under child labor laws in the United States. But that figure is expected to rise as many Republican States are pulling back on child labor laws to allow children to take on dangerous jobs legally, where it is currently illegal.
A 2010 Human Rights Watch study revealed children in the United States working in agriculture as early as age 7, 8 or 9 for a few hours at a time, and by ages 11 or 12, they were out of school and working full time.1
These findings are out dated. 2015. With the influx of new migrants these numbers are probably higher. No information on prosecutions. Child Labor laws are federal. So no matter whom is in office these violations go unchallenged.
