Nothing could be closer to the truth....

Recidivism has proved that rehabilitation is a hoax.
Retribution is not only effective deterrant via punishment, it keeps them off the streets for awhile, during which they can't target innocent victims.

The only more effective, permanent solution is the death penalty.
If the justice system fails, the people will impose street justice. History has proved this.

And street justice aka mob justice tends to be worse than whatever the Left/Dems are whining about concerning prisons.

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but, recidivism is WAY higher in countries with retributive prison systems than in countries with rehabilitative prison systems.
